Natalia, Senior Administrator - Careers & Employability Service

Who are you, and what is your job title?
My name is Natalia, and I work in the Careers and Employability Service as a Senior Administrator. I did my undergrad degree here in English Language, Linguistics and Sociology and then my masters in Cognitive Studies.
How long have you worked at the º£½ÇÉçÇø?
I have worked at the º£½ÇÉçÇø for almost a year now.
What does your job involve?
I work in the employer engagement team. Most of my role involves organising careers fairs, three times a year when employers come to campus and talk to students about the opportunities they offer. I do marketing, organisation, planning, loads of things.
What other jobs have you done at the º£½ÇÉçÇø?
Before joining the º£½ÇÉçÇø in this role I was a Student Ambassador for various different teams. The most exciting and rewarding one was as a Global Campus Ambassador.
Why do you think the º£½ÇÉçÇø is a remarkable place to work?
I think it is a very exciting place to work because there are so many different things you can do to develop yourself as a person and career wise, like training, secondments in different departments, exploring different roles and meeting lots of different people.
How would you describe the working culture at the º£½ÇÉçÇø?
I would definitely say it’s very collaborative. You get to engage with different departments and people from across the º£½ÇÉçÇø. It's very welcoming, and you are encouraged to look for different opportunities for development.
What opportunities has working at the º£½ÇÉçÇø provided you with?
Definitely staying in an amazing city! Also, training opportunities, for example, I’m currently undergoing training in project management which is funded by the Careers & Employability Service, which is very exciting and I’m very happy I was offered the opportunity to do it. Something I look forward to in the future is looking at secondment opportunities and going into different departments and seeing how the º£½ÇÉçÇø works in different areas as well.
What skills/experience from your time as a student at the UoS were key to you getting your role/useful in your current role?
I think it was useful for me to learn critical skills as a student. My role involves a lot of critical thinking. Other skills you learn as a student, digital capability, team work, all those transferable skills that you learn, you can use in different roles here.
What would you say to current students who are considering the º£½ÇÉçÇø as a place to work?
Go for it! You should definitely give it a go because you have the student experience and you know how things work and what could be made better. You can join the º£½ÇÉçÇø as a member of staff and try to make those things happen and make the º£½ÇÉçÇø even better for future students.
